Top Ten Tuesday: Top 10 Books to Read If Your Book Club Likes GBBO!

'Top Ten Tuesday' is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. I love making lists, so this feature fits me perfectly! If you also take part in this feature or have any additions to my lists, please get in touch; I'd love to hear from you!

Top 10 Books to Read If Your Book Club Likes GBBO

Last week we said goodbye to the latest season of The Great British Bake Off, which was also a final goodbye to the show at the BBC. I personally don´t think Channel 4 will be able to recreate what the BBC managed to do with the show, but luckily us GBBO fans have some great baking-related novels to dive into instead. For this week's Top Ten Tuesday I decided to go with 10 reads I think GBBO fans, or fans of baking in general, will really enjoy, so be sure to check them out or share some of your own recommendations!

Be sure to share your own TTT's in the comments section below; I'd love to hear from you!

1. 'The Little Village Bakery' - Tilly Tennant

I recently read this novel and really loved it. Not as much bakery-related writing as I initially had hoped, but still a brilliant read!

2. 'When Only Cupcakes Will Do' - Daisy James

Another lovely read, one all about cupcakes!

3. 'The Plumberry School of Comfort Food' - Cathy Bramley

Cathy Bramley is one of my favourite authors of the moment and I'm pretty sure a lot of baking fans will really enjoy this book as much as I did.

4. 'Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe' - Jenny Colgan

Another great read all about a simply wonderful cupcake cafe!

5. 'The Mysterious Bakery on Rue De Paris' - Evie Gaughan

Great for fans of French baking/food; really enjoyed this read as well.

6. 'The Chocolate Apothecary' - Josephine Moon

Perfect for fans of chocolate and great writing in general; Josephine Moon really is quite an amazing author!

7. 'The Heavenly Italian Ice Cream Shop' - Abby Clements

All about yummy Italian ice cream...!

8. 'The Cake Shop in the Garden' - Carole Matthews

With an actual quote from Mary Berry on the front cover, what better recommendation could we get?!

9. 'The Cherry Tree Cafe' - Heidi Swain

I haven't actually read this book myself yet, but I really like the sound of it and have a feeling it's another good read for baking fans!

10. 'Game of Scones' - Samantha Tonge

Another one I haven't picked up myself yet, but have read some great reviews and look forward to reading it!

  1. Hi Jody,
Lovely to come across your blog at the moment I've sat down to browse blogs with a lovely slice of homemade cake :) Thanks for your list. I've read some of those but not others, and we love baking programs in our family too. There's another book named 'The Good Day Baking Company' by an author named Adele Wyn Eddy, who contacted me for a review about a year ago. That might be good for your list too.

  5. What a clever topic! These books all look so tasty lol. I was so sad after the GBBO finale, I don't think it will ever be as good on C4, Mel and Sue were my favourite part (apart from the cake, of course).

    My TTT.

  6. These books like delightfully light reads. I've never heard of GBBO until stopping by here today. Thanks for teaching me something new today.

  7. I love this topic! I love the Great British Bake Off though it's only run here in the US occasionally. I've bought a few Mary Berry cookbooks just because of that show! Almost all of your choices are new to me but I'm adding all to my TBR. This sounds like wonderful reading!
