Review: 'Dazzling' by Elizabeth Hayley (2016)

She's a starving artist and he's a billionaire playboy....

Siobhan came to New York with a purpose: She wants to become a successful artist. To pay her bills in the meantime, she's the hostess at The Stone Room, a bar for the beautiful and the billionaires. She's fine with being on her own--until tech billionaire Derick takes her breath away.
Several weeks ago now I was contacted by a publisher and introduced to 'BookShots', a new way of reading developed by world-famous author James Patterson. I hadn't heard of BookShots before, but they're basically small and light books you can finish in one sitting that will keep you on the edge of your seat; short, fast-paced, high-impact entertainment (click here to read some more about it). I've had the pleasure of checking out several examples of BookShots by now, including 'Little Black Dress' (click here to read my review) and 'The Mating Season' (click here to read my review), and today I'm excited to have a review of another BookShots read to share with all of you, this time for 'Dazzling'!
Elizabeth Hayley’s ‘Dazzling’ tells the story of twenty-something Siobhan who is in New York with one particular goal, namely to become a successful artist. While she’s waiting for good things to come her way she’s working various jobs including babysitting and being a hostess at the Stone Room, an exclusive bar in the city. One evening she meets billionaire Derick and there is instant chemistry between the two of them. But is Derick really what Siobhan is looking for at this moment in time, especially when she mainly wants to focus on her career?
Like other BookShots reads, ‘Dazzling’ is a short and quick read perfect to finish in one or two sittings, for example while commuting or travelling. I wasn’t familiar with author Elizabeth Hayley, but immediately liked her writing and was curious to see what would happen to main character Siobhan. The story intrigued me and I liked it, but I have to admit it didn’t grab me as much as the other BookShots reads I’ve been able to read up until now. I liked both Siobhan and Derick, but I missed some action, which I’ve perhaps gotten a bit used to with these BookShots.
I don’t want to give anything away, but I was really quite surprised by the ending of this book. Luckily, I quickly figured out this is actually the first part of a series and I will certainly pick up part two, when that’s possible, to see what’s next for both Siobhan and Derick. Even though ‘Dazzling’ isn’t one of my favourite BookShots reads, it’s still an enjoyable and fast-paced read, perfect when you’re looking for a quick reading fix, and I’m sure numerous romance readers will be entertained by this.
Rating:8/10
