Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Favourite Chick Flicks

'Top Ten Tuesday' is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. I love making lists, so this feature fits me perfectly! If you also take part in this feature or have any additions to my lists, please get in touch; I'd love to hear from you!

Top Ten Favourite Chick Flicks

I love the fact that for this week's Top Ten Tuesday we are given the chance to focus on different stories for a change, namely films or TV shows. I decided to focus on films because I think many lovers of chick lit, like me, are also big fans of chick flicks/romantic comedy films. Next to this blog, I'm also a book and film reviewer over at Chick Lit Club, so I thought this would be a nice chance to also bring the film aspect to my own blog and share some of my personal favourites with you!

1. Love Actually

Described as 'the ultimate romantic comedy' and I absolutely agree. 'Love Actually' is one of my favourite films of all time; it has several great storylines, a brilliant cast, and lots and lots of romance. A must-see!

2. She's The Man

'She's the Man' is inspired by Shakespeare's play 'Twelfth Night' and a thoroughly enjoyable and really funny film. Amanda Bynes does a great job as the film's leading lady and if you're looking for some man candy, there's Channing Tatum.

3. 10 Things I Hate About You

I can't believe this film was released 15 years ago this year, wow! Once again a retelling of one of Shakespeare's plays, in this case 'The Taming of the Shrew', and an amazing one, if I may say so. I still love this film and its soundtrack; a true classic!

4. Easy A

Emma Stone is incredibly funny and I think 'Easy A' is her best film so far. It's a hilarious and entertaining story and a film I can watch over and over again.

5. 27 Dresses

Another actress who is great in any romantic comedy and deserves a place on this top 10 is Katherine Heigl. My personal favourite of her films has to be '27 Dresses' which tells the story of a girl who is always the bridesmaid... Especially the scene with all the bridesmaid dresses is one I'll never forget!

6. Pitch Perfect

I am SO excited about the sequel to 'Pitch Perfect' that is going to hit theatres in 2015. 'Pitch Perfect' is a great mix of music and humour with a touch of romance... I love everything about this film!

7. Notting Hill

A film which definitely can't be left out, a true classic with a brilliant cast.

8. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

The chemistry between Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey sparks off the screen in this film, which has a great storyline and is really funny.

9. Valentine's Day

A lovely romantic film filled with tons of famous actors and actresses. The film reminds of 'Love Actually' and it is just as enjoyable, just like the 'sequel' titled 'New Year's Eve'.

10. Austenland

The last romantic comedy I've watched and one that has definitely been added to my personal list of favourites. I'm a big Jane Austen fan and I loved everything about this film. Not just a great film for Austen fans, but for everyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy!

Which are your favourite chick flicks/romantic comedy films? I'd love to hear from you!

  3. Well, I can't identify with this list at all - I can't stand most chick flicks (or chick lit)! I have seen some of these and Easy A was funny!

  4. OMG. Have you been inside my head this past week while I was brainstorming my post? I had so many TV shows to pick from that I just couldn't wrap my head around writing a list of movies too. If I had, it would have been an exact replica of yours!!

  5. 10 Things I Hate About You made it onto my list as well! And I found Austenland very entertaining as well. Love JJ Feild and he really seems to play Austen-esque heroes adeptly! (He was Henry Tilney in Northanger Abbey, another fabulous film.)

  6. I could watch my favorite scene in Love Actually 1000 times - when the guy goes up to Keira Knightley and confesses his love via signs.

  7. Ok, so you have both Notting Hill & Love Actually on your list, so I've got to ask - Have you seen About Time yet? Same director, and maybe my favorite of his (but I do so love Notting Hill). It's such a great film, I could talk about it for hours!

&& 10 Things I Hate About You? Love! What a wonderful list! :)

Here's my Top Ten Movies, if you'd like to check them out!
