The Rainbow Book Tag!

I love pretty book covers, so when I stumbled upon this fun book tag some days ago (click here) I straight away decided to have a look at some of my favourite book covers and take part!

1. Red

I decided to go with Jane Costello's 'The Love Shack' for the red book cover. It's not the prettiest shade of red, in my opinion, but I still think it's red and not pink, and it's a great book and a lovely cover!

2. Orange

I wasn't sure whether to go with red or orange or yellow for this one, so I decided to just go with the middle: orange!

3. Yellow

This cover really takes me back to when the book was first released and I couldn't wait to get a copy and didn't want to stop reading, while at the same time I didn't want to continue reading because I didn't want the book to end...

4. Green

I love all the different shades of green on this cover; fits the story so well!

5. Blue

I still clearly remember when I received a review copy of this book. It was my first Jane Green read, but the cover immediately jumped at me because of the amazing shade of blue and all the stars... Love it.

6. Purple

I had no idea there are so many purple book covers out there before I started looking for one I like, haha...! I immediately thought of Emily Liebert's 'Those Secrets We Keep' and also decided to go with that one in the end; I really like how the purple fades in the background and fits in with the picture of the three women.

7. Pink

Love the different shades of pink, and a great book as well...!

8. White

I have always loved this book cover and still do. Simple, classic, elegant...!

The Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag

People always say you should never judge a book by its cover. But I have to admit I am one of those people who just can't help it! When I see a pretty or colourful cover that immediately attracts my attention, it just makes me want to pick up the book that little bit more... Let's not lie about it! So, when I stumbled upon this book tag which was created by Book Syrup on Youtube, I knew I had to take part in it!

1. Best color combo on a book cover

I really love these pastel colours together; the green and the pink... Gorgeous.

2. Best typography/font on a book cover

Love the font and how the title immediately attracts your attention <3

3. Best simple cover

Quite simple, nothing too exciting, but so effective; love this cover.

4. Best endpages

Actually had to look one up because I have hardly any books myself that have pretty features like this, but I'd love to have a copy of this 'Northanger Abbey' version!

5. Best map

I hardly ever read a book that includes an actual map, to be honest...! However, there's this classic Winnie the Pooh map which always makes me smile and think back to when I was a little girl.

6. Best naked hardback

Once again something I had to really search the Internet for, but I found a Jane Austen hardback I love; really simple but classic and just lovely.

7. Best back cover

I've always loved this 'Wizard of Oz' cover. The back portrays the Cowardly Lion, and even though he's crying the image is just so spot-on and always makes me smile.

8. Best chapter headers

Definitely 'Harry Potter'...!

9. Best illustrations

I can't give one specific example, but I've always loved the slightly old-fashioned classic illustrations, like this one from 'Emma.'

10. Best spine

This 'Little Women' one is just amazing, I had to include it in this book tag!

11. Favorite cover on your shelves

This continues to be one of my all-time favourite covers. It's just so pretty <3

Weekly Meme: Do Judge a Book By Its Cover!

The lovely Gill over at The Book Magpie started a new weekly book meme several ago, Do Judge a Book By Its Cover! I love weekly memes, and this one focuses on pretty book covers, which I can never get enough of!

The basic idea is to write a post each week with a picture of your favourite book cover following the theme of the week, which can be found on Gill's blog. The theme for this week is:

FREE CHOICE!

I love this week's theme because it provides me with the chance to share a book cover with you which I absolutely love. It took me a bit of time to pick just one, but I decided to go with the cover of Ali Harris' 'The First Last Kiss'! I love every single detail on this cover; from the string of lights at the top of the cover, to the lovely swirly font of the title, the silhouette of the loved-up couple, to the pretty colour scheme... It's simply stunning. Apparently the book itself is also quite amazing, and I don't understand why I still haven't read it *hides in a dark corner* But definitely one of my favourite covers of all time!

If you plan on joining in with the 'Do Judge a Book By Its Cover' meme, be sure to leave a comment because I'd love to see your picks! :)

Okay, I think I definitely need a specific theme because I just spent way too much time looking up all kinds of lovely book covers! I decided to go with one of my absolute favourite book covers of all time for this week's pick:

One of the best chick lit book covers has to be the cover for Lindsey Kelk's classic chick lit novel 'I Heart New York.' I remember falling in love with this cover as soon as I saw it for the first time and luckily the story inside turned out to be just as amazing! I still love everything about this cover from the colours to the pretty pink dress blowing in the wind to the gorgeous font of the title... Love it!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top 10 Book Cover Trends I Like

'Top Ten Tuesday' is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. I love making lists, so this feature fits me perfectly! If you also take part in this feature or have any additions to my lists, please get in touch; I'd love to hear from you!

Top Ten Book Cover Trends I Like

This week's Top Ten Tuesday focuses on book cover trends. I have to admit I'm not too up-to-date when it comes to trends within the world of book covers, so I decided to just focus on elements you can often find on mainly chick lit book covers and which are elements I personally love and which always help me to spot a particular novel. Which elements on a cover immediately catch your attention? I'd love to hear from you!

1. London elements

London is one of my favourite places in the world, so whenever a cover includes the Big Ben or a cute London skyline, I can't help but fall in love with it!

2. Wedding elements

I love books about weddings, so whenever I spot a cover with a wedding/bride theme I will most likely pick up the book and get it!

3. Silhouettes of couples

Chick lit books are almost always about romance, and I love it when this romantic element is used on the cover by featuring a silhoutte of a couple... Love it!

4. Pretty fonts

A pretty font goes a long way, especially when it comes to book covers, if you ask me!

5. Cupcake elements

I really enjoy books about baking, cupcakes, tea shops, and love the usually yummy covers of the novels!

6. Glitter and sparkle

There's nothing like a bit of glitter and sparkle to spice up a book cover and I have to admit I definitely have a weakness for a bit of sparkle!

7. Christmas elements

Christmas is my favourite time of year, so it's no surprise that I also easily fall in love with book covers with a Christmas theme going on!

8. Lights in the darkness

I also love book covers like the Nicholas Sparks and Kristin Hannah covers above, with elements of darkness and light, fireflies, pretty lights, lanterns, etc.

9. Classic leatherbound classics

I fell in love with the covers of this series of classic leatherbound classics by Barnes & Noble the first moment I saw them, and think they're absolutely gorgeous!

10. Captivating colours

It's hard to ignore these covers with their absolutely stunning colours, love it!
