Top Ten Tuesday: Top 10 Resolutions I Have for 2016

'Top Ten Tuesday' is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. I love making lists, so this feature fits me perfectly! If you also take part in this feature or have any additions to my lists, please get in touch; I'd love to hear from you!

Top 10 Resolutions I Have for 2016

A new year filled with top 10 lists! I've really enjoyed taking part in Top Ten Tuesday the past year or so, so this is definitely something I am going to continue in 2016. We're kicking things off with a top 10 that fits New Year's Eve perfectly, namely 10 resolutions for the upcoming year. I decided to go with resolutions that have to do with either books or blogging, and I'm curious to see what others have made of this TTT this week!

Be sure to share your own TTT's in the comments section below; I'd love to hear from you!

1. Read 165 books

My Goodreads goal for last year was to read 150 books and I'm proud to say I managed to reach that total early in December 2015. Based on that experience, I decided to add a few more books to the total for this year, so hopefully I'll be able to reach the 165 by the end of this year!

2. Keep on blogging

At the start of this year I for the first time started wondering whether I really want to continue blogging or not. I never had these thoughts before because I always just really enjoyed it. I am definitely going to continue for now and hope I will be able to keep on enjoying it throughout 2016...!

3. Read more of what I love

Chick lit is and will probably always be my favourite book genre. Last year I also read numerous books from other genres, because I think it's important to switch things up every now and again. However, this year I want to stay close to what I love, which means enough chick lit! <3

4. Try and re-read all Jane Austen novels

Yes! I've been meaning to re-read all Jane Austen's novels for quite some time now and I've decided 2016 really is going to be the year in which I'll pick up all of these classics again... Fingers crossed I'll stick to this resolution!

5. Read more novels as soon as they come out

I love the excitement of looking forward to a novel being released that you've been really excited about for weeks or even months. I plan on not leaving these new releases until later, but jumping into the excitement by picking them up as soon as I can get my hands on them instead.

6. Try to think of new things to keep blogging fun

I really want to try and spice up my blog a bit in 2016. Perhaps it's time for a new layout, some new weekly features, some more interaction with other bloggers and/or authors... I have to continue to keep things fun, not just for my readers but also for me!

7. Comment more on other blogs

I really really really want to try and comment more on other people's blog posts. I love reading other blogs and I love receiving comments on my own blog, so I want to make sure and spend some time on leaving comments on other blogs as well.

8. Do not turn reading into a must

I'm sure other book bloggers will recognise this feeling of reading becoming a must, especially when you take a look at your TBR-pile. However, I really want to make sure I continue to enjoy reading and that it will not become a must.

9. Keep on buying books

I need to fill up my own library in the future, so I need more books! <3

10. Write my own novel?!

Who knows what 2016 will bring? New year, new challenges to take on!

  2. Even though I don't read a lot of contemporary books, I certainly agree, sometimes you need some chick-lit. I find it great to read when I have read a lot of "heavier" books and is kinda like something I use to cleanse my palette before diving back into fantasy, horror or mysteries. I use cozy mysteries the same way.

    1. Yes, I love being able to pick up a chick lit read, knowing it won't be heavy and it won't make me cry or think about the serious things in life... Just like I love picking up a good mystery novel now and again. Thanks for stopping by, Barb! :)

  3. I'd love to reread all of Jane Austen's books! Pride and Prejudice is my favourite, and it's the one I usually try and reread every year, but I didn't get the chance in 2015. I really have to make an effort to reread it this year! Commenting more is one of my goals for the year, too. Best of luck with all your goals for the year, Jody!
