Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want to Visit

'Top Ten Tuesday' is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. I love making lists, so this feature fits me perfectly! If you also take part in this feature or have any additions to my lists, please get in touch; I'd love to hear from you!

Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want to Visit

I love this week's Top Ten Tuesday list! I've read many books over the years and because of that, I've been to many different amazing places in my head. However, I'd absolutely love to visit some of these places in real life. This week's top 10 consists of 10 places I was introduced to by reading certain books and which I definitely want to visit sometime in my life!

1. New York City

If there's one place on earth I definitely want to visit within the next couple of years, it has to be New York City. The city plays a central role in numerous amazing novels, but especially Lindsey Kelk's 'I Heart New York' and Ali McNamara's 'From Notting Hill to New York... Actually' made me long for a trip to New York even more. It sounds like such a fantastic place and I can't wait to walk around the city myself!

2. London

London is one of my favourite cities ever and I can't get enough of it. 'From Notting Hill with Love... Actually' by Ali McNamara is probably the chick lit novel that makes me long for London the most; it's just the best place <3

3. American towns

This is not really one specific place, but I love the small American towns that play an important part in novels such as Emily Liebert's 'When We Fall' and Jenny Hale's 'Love Me For Me'. The towns always sound like wonderful places to live and they remind me of TV shows like Gilmore Girls, Hart of Dixie and Dawson's Creek. I really want to visit one of these typical American towns one day and see whether these places are really as lovely as they sound/seem!

4. San Francisco

San Francisco is a city I honestly never really particularly wanted to visit. Until I read Niamh Greene's 'A Message to Your Heart' and Miranda Dickinson's 'Take a Look At Me Now'; after reading those two novels I was convinced I need to visit San Francisco at least once in my life! These two authors managed to sell the city to me, big time, and I can't wait to walk around the place myself one day.

5. Lovely British villages

I've been to numerous cute British villages in my life and I can't ever get enough of them. Books like Giovanna Fletcher's 'Billy and Me' and Alexandra Brown's 'Cupcakes at Carrington's' are set in wonderful small British towns and they always make me long for a trip to the UK!

6. Hawaii

Who doesn't want to enjoy the gorgeous views and white beaches of Hawaii at least once in their life?! I know I want to, and novels such as Lindsey Kelk's 'About a Girl' only make me long for that trip to Hawaii even more!

7. Hogwarts

Sadly, Hogwarts doesn't exist in real life, but if it did I think I would want to live there.

8. Pemberley (or other fabulous country houses)

Mr. Darcy's estate from Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' sounds like one of the most beautiful places on earth. There's not much I love more than visiting amazing country houses, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll win the lottery one day and will be able to own my own!

9. Australia

'Pictures of Lily' by Paige Toon convinced me that I need to visit Australia one day. It's the other side of the world, but a country with so much to see and discover... I really hope I will be able to go there someday (even though I heard the spiders are pretty big over there...)!

10. Las Vegas

I have to admit I'm simply curious to see what all the fuss is about when it comes to Las Vegas. It's not a place I HAVE to visit before I die, but Lindsey Kelk's novel 'I Heart Vegas' made it sound like such a fun place, I have to admit I'm now quite curious to check it out for myself!

Which places do you want to visit because they were mentioned in a particular book? I'd love to hear from you! :)

  1. Hogwarts made my list - I wouldn't be surprised if it made everyone's list. I love London too, although I have only been once. I also had Australia along with Paris, Prague and Greece :)

  2. Great choices! I had Hogwarts on mine too and just England in general to sum up how much Jane Austen has made me want to visit there. :)

  5. "American Towns" made me giggle. I think even Americans are fascinated with the towns from Gilmore Girls and such, because rarely are our real towns like that. I know mine isn't. I guess everyone always thinks the grass is greener on the other side! Still, even living in America, a few American places made it on my list, too! Here's my ten places :)
