Weekly Feature: Once Upon a Story...

'Once Upon a Story' is a weekly feature in which we go back in time and focus  on a specific novel that was released in the same month we're in right now (in this case May), but a few years back! It can be a women's fiction classic from the 1990's or perhaps a great chick lit read from 2011. I thought it would be nice to not just focus on recent releases, but also take the chance to jump back in time once a week and look back at wonderful reads that have been released over the years!

This week, we're travelling all the way back to October 2005 to look back at...

What happens when a girl on the fringe enters the realm of New York's chic, party-hopping elite?
Soon after Bette Robinson quits her horrendous Manhattan banking job like the impulsive girl she's never been, the novelty of walking her four-pound dog around the unglamorous Murray Hill neighborhood wears as thin as the "What are you going to do with your life?" phone calls from her parents. Then Bette meets Kelly, head of Manhattan's hottest PR firm, and suddenly she has a brand-new job where the primary requirement is to see and be seen inside the VIP rooms of the city's most exclusive nightclubs. But when Bette begins appearing in a vicious new gossip column, she realizes that the line between her personal life and her professional life is... invisible.

I think almost everyone reading this blog will probably have heard of the popular best-selling novel 'The Devil Wears Prada'... And even if you didn't read the book, you most likely saw the film (or the trailer) starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. I personally really loved 'The Devil Wears Prada' and author Lauren Weisberger published another great read in October 2005, one not everyone knows about, namely 'Everyone Worth Knowing.' It's also a story set in the busy city of New York and focuses on Bette Robinson's glamorous and exciting life. I'm a big fan of Lauren Weisberger's fabulous New York stories and this is definitely a must-read for chick lit fans!

Be sure to visit the blog next week for another blast from chick lit past with 'Once Upon a Story...'!
