1. Gayle Forman - 'If I Stay'
2. Rainbow Rowell - 'Fangirl'
Another author whom everyone seemed to be talking about a few months ago and another author whom I am completely unfamiliar with. Is it worth picking up one of her novels, yes or no?

3. Veronica Roth - 'Divergent' series
A book series which is said to be great for fans of 'The Hunger Games' and which was of course made even more popular thanks to the film franchise. I don't own any of the books and am not quite sure whether I would enjoy it or not.

4. John Green - 'The Fault in Our Stars'
If we're talking about hypes, John Green cannot be left out on this list. I haven't read any of his novels and I'm not sure if I should start or not. I think the book will eventually only disappoint because of how AMAZING everyone says it is.

5. George R. R. Martin - 'Game of Thrones' series
Never say never, but I am pretty sure this is one hype I will definitely skip.

6. Cassandra Clare - 'The Mortal Instruments' series
I have to admit I am quite curious about 'The Mortal Instruments' series and hope to pick it up sometime soon.

Yes, yes, I know... *hangs head in shame*

8. J.R.R. Tolkien - 'The Lord of the Rings' & 'The Hobbit'
I tried, but just couldn't get any further than the first 100 pages or so.

Hello! Great list! The Fault in Our Stars brings varied opinions out of everyone. In my opinion, it's sad, but it's a different book than I am used to reading, so it definitely brought me out of my comfort zone. Same with Gone Girl - although, it kind of hits you like a ton of bricks. Be prepared when reading that one!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week :)
Hi Jessie, thanks so much for stopping by! Oh, wow, you've actually got me even more curious about 'Gone Girl' now! Hope you have a great week as well!
DeleteI haven't read a few of these either, but I definitely say that picking up a Rainbow Rowell book is worth it. I love all of her novels, I just think they're so relatable and funny!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation, hopefully I'll be able to check out my first Rainbow Rowell read sometime soon! :)
DeleteGreat list! With the exception of Gone Girl I could say every one of these as well! I'm definitely hesitant to read John Green partly for the reasons you mention. I've read a few super hyped books and there's always the risk the book will disappoint even if it's a good book. I'm semi-allergic to book hype. Sometimes it doesn't bother me and sometimes I find myself digging in my heels and refusing to read the book for no reason!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katherine! I have to agree with you, I'm definitely semi-allergic as well, haha, great way to describe it!
DeleteI've only read The Fault In Our Stars by John Green from your post this week. The other titles mentioned, I have yet to read.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to my TTT post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/07/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-hyped-books-ive.html
Thanks for visiting the blog and leaving a comment, I really appreciate it. Will check out your TTT as well! :)
DeleteFangirl, Gone Girl and City of Bones yes yes YES Jody! :-) Lovely selection of books, I haven't read anything by Gayle Forman yet- oops! Here's my TTT if you would like to check it out :-) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emma, adding them to the top of my to-read pile... I trust your good taste! ;-) Thanks for visiting and will definitely check out your TTT later! xx
DeleteI LOVE The Lord of the Rings... but The Hobbit is a chore. I don't blame you for quitting. I had to bribe myself with a new Gandalf bookmark to re-read it a couple years ago.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, some books require treats in order to get through them, I guess! Thanks for the comment, Hamlette!
