Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books About Friendship

'Top Ten Tuesday' is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. I love making lists, so this feature fits me perfectly! If you also take part in this feature or have any additions to my lists, please get in touch; I'd love to hear from you!

Ten Books About Friendship

This week's Top Ten Tuesday deals with a topic that plays a big role in almost any chick lit novel: friendship. I've come across so many novels over the years that have some incredible friendships at their core, so it was quite difficult to pick just a few. You can find my favourite books about friendship below; I'd love to hear about your personal favourites, so be sure to join in and leave a reply or a link to your own TTT! :)

1. Ann Brashares - 'The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants'

Definitely the first book about friendship that popped into my mind! I love the whole 'Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants' series which focuses on best friends Carmen, Tibby, Lena and Bridget.

2. Emily Liebert - 'You Knew Me When'

I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of this book last year and I absolutely LOVED it (click here to read my review). It tells the story of former best friends Katherine and Laney, who haven't seen each other for a long time, but are suddenly living in the same city again and forced to address their long-standing grudges.

3. Laura Rice & Jimmy Tait - 'The Best Thing That Never Happened To Me'

One of my favourite reads of 2014 so far! 'The Best Thing That Never Happened To Me' tells the story of former best friends Holly and Alex, who were both secretly in love with one another, but too scared to admit their true feelings. Now, years later, they are both living in the same city again... A brilliant story about friendship and romance!

4. Alexandra Brown - The 'Carrington's' series

One of my favourite chick lit series at the moment and one with a great cast of characters at its core! Georgie Hart, the protagonist, is a lovely character and she has some fabulous friends like Eddie (the perfect GBF) and Sam (who makes the best cupcakes), and their friendship is one of the best elements of the Carrington's books.

5. Emily Giffin - 'Something Borrowed'

An amazing read in which the friendship between best friends Darcy and Rachel is tested to the ultimate limit.

6. Cecelia Ahern - 'Where Rainbows End'

Another book in which the friendship of a male and female character takes on a central role. In this case, the story of Alex and Rosie is told solely through letters, e-mails, text messages and notes. A film version of the book will be released later this year and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they decided to turn this book into a screen version!

7. J.K. Rowling - The 'Harry Potter' series

Do I even need to explain why this series is part of this list?

8. Amy Silver - 'The Reunion'

A gripping and incredibly well-written book about best friends Jen, Andrew, Lilah, Natalie and Dan whose friendship is forever changed by a horrible event when they are students. Years later they meet up again, and they are forced to deal with their broken friendship and unhealed wounds.

9. Louisa May Alcott - 'Little Women'

A true classic novel about the four March sisters. I love the close friendship they have with one another, but also love the friendship between Jo and Laurie.

10. Lindsey Kelk - The 'I Heart...' series

A truly amazing and incredibly funny series of chick lit books; heroine Angela has two great best friends, Jenny and Louisa, who are always there for each other, no matter what.

Any books about friendship you miss on this list? I'd love to hear from you!
