Blog Tour: 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club - Destination: Chile' by Katy Colins!

Welcome to Paradise

Next on her bucket list Georgia Green is heading to Chile, but this time she’s not going alone…

The new favourite series for fans of The Curvy Girls Club, the Shopaholic series and Eat, Pray, Love.
Join Georgia Green for a romantic trip into the sunset…

Oh, I am so happy to be part of the blog tour I am a part of today, namely Katy Colins' new release 'Destination: Chile', the third part of her successful 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' series! I've had the pleasure of reading and reviewing the two previous parts, 'Destination: Thailand' (click here to read my review) and 'Destination: India' (click here to read my review) and I absolutely loved both books. Katy Colins is a wonderful author and I was incredibly excited to had been given an early review copy of her latest story. Besides my review I also have an exclusive guest post from Katy herself to share with all of you today, so be sure to scroll down to read it all and to visit some of the other stops on the tour if you're looking for some more great content!

Georgia is in a good place; she's moved in with her hunky boyfriend Ben and their business, travel agency 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club', is only growing. Question is: where will Georgia's next trip go to? If it's up to Georgia, she's thinking somewhere romantic, the perfect place for a proposal... But when she and Ben are unexpectedly invited to take part in a TV show that includes a trip to Chile, all expenses paid, they can't possibly say no. Together with four other couples that work in the travel business they travel to Chile to start their journey, which also includes a competition to win a big cash price. And just like previous times, Georgia's in for quite a trip...

Every once in a while I'm lucky enough to find a chick lit book series I just can't get enough of. This was the case with Lindsey Kelk's 'I Heart...' series, the 'Shopaholic' books, and now also with Katy Colins' 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' series. 'Destination: Chile' is the third part of the series, but while sequels to a great novel can sometimes be a bit disappointing, Katy just keeps on hitting the nail on the head with her stories. Georgia is a great heroine; I've liked her and rooted for her from the start and in each book she finds herself facing a new challenge, with different things going on in her life, and I just really love the fact that we, as readers, are invited to join her and look over her shoulder, every step of the way.

I have to admit I was curious to see whether Katy Colins would manage to come up with something new in this third part and she definitely did. An unexpected trip to Chile for a TV show that has a competition element to it... I don't want to say too much, but there is definitely a lot going on in this novel with several interesting aspects to the storyline to keep you wanting to turn the pages. I don't really know what else to say then to definitely pick up this series if you're a chick lit fan; it really is a brilliant read. 'Destination: Chile' is another fun, well-written and incredibly enjoyable read by Katy Colins. I think I've personally come to the stage where I'll just pick up anything with her name on it, because it quite simply has to be a great read...!

Guest Post by Katy Colins!

I'm both honoured and excited to once again welcome Katy Colins to the blog today to celebrate the release of her latest novel, 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club - Destination: Chile'! Below you can find a special guest post from Katy herself in which she tells us a bit more about how her travels in Chile inspired her latest book.

Chile is not the most common location to set a book but I love to give my readers a taste of a destination in my novels to hopefully inspire wanderlust! I spent my time in Chile going from one extreme to the other – weather wise. From the arid desert north of the country down to the wet and windy south, it is a country that has it all. Setting is very important to me as I think it comes with its own challenges when you’re travelling and certainly puts you out of your comfort zone. Georgia soon realises that being half the way around the world doesn’t mean you can leave your problems at home, something I think a lot of travellers expect to happen. When you are miles from everything you know it can magnify what is going on in your life, sometimes in both a positive and negative way. This is the beauty of travel, you can be humbled and inspired by the things around you promising to return with a new outlook on everything. It is the reason I want to keep exploring the world and something that Georgia also shares, except she has a demanding business to run and a lot of balls in the air!

I also loved the warmth I received from the Chilean people, they were some of the friendliest I met when I backpacked around South America. From the exotic food to the stunning architecture it is a country that has inspired poets, artists and writers for years.
I hope that readers will soon be adding Chile to their travel wish-list after reading Destination Chile. I’m already aching to go back!

Thank you, Katy! :)

Blog Tour: 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club - Destination: India' by Katy Colins!

I'm incredibly excited to be part of the blog tour for the second part of Katy Colins' 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' book series, 'Destination: India', today! Several months ago I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of the first instalment of the series, 'Destination: Thailand' (click here to read my review), and I immediately fell in love with the book and was really curious to discover whether the second part would be just as good. I was, once again, lucky enough to be asked to review the book as a part of the blog tour, and I couldn't wait to see whether Katy would once again treat us to a fantastic chick lit read. Be sure to read on to check out my review and check out some of the other stops on the tour as well (see the tour banner for the blog names)!

After her backpacking adventures in Thailand to deal with her break-up, Georgia Green is back in Manchester again where she is incredibly busy with her successful travel agency, The Lonely Hearts Travel Club, together with her business partner Ben. After months of relaxing, Georgia can't help but give it a 110% to make the business a success, but she's taking things a bit too far, turning into a workaholic who doesn't have time for any of her friends or family. When the opportunity arises for Georgia to travel all the way to India to check on a tour they've got going on over there, she isn't too sure she can leave everything in the UK behind, but in the end she's convinced, especially with all the bad reviews of this India tour they've been receiving. But Georgia has no idea what India has in store for her, and it's quite something...

Sometimes sequels can disappoint, especially when the first book was really quite amazing and there's the chance of building up your hopes a bit too high. This is, however, definitely not the case with Katy Colins' 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' series, because the second instalment, 'Destination: India' is just as much of a fantastic read as the first book of the series was. Katy Colins really found her calling because I honestly think she's an amazing author; her writing style is so captivating and comfortable to read. Each chapter has new elements that keep you guessing and interested, and I think I could have actually finished this whole book in just one sitting, which is quite rare for me!

Georgia is a great heroine; she's relatable and realistic, and just like in the first part of the series there's a good and fun collection of secondary characters, such as the people who are part of the tour group Georgia joins in India. The storyline includes several different elements and I wasn't bored for even one second thanks to everything that was going on. I also want to specifically mention the vivid descriptions, because it almost made me feel as if I was walking around India myself, even though I've never been there. 'Destination: India' is a wonderful second instalment of Katy Colins' 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' series; a well-written, captivating and thoroughly entertaining chick lit read I can't recommend enough, and I can't even begin to explain how much I'm looking forward to part 3, Destination: Chile!

Guest Post by Katy Colins!

I'm both honoured and excited to welcome Katy Colins to the blog today to celebrate the release of her latest novel, 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club - Destination: India'! Below you can find a special guest post from Katy herself in which she tells us a bit more about how her travels in India inspired her latest book.

There is something magical about India. It is this country that tends to get under your skin, for many, many reasons. From the pollution, noise and staring men to stunning scenery, kind strangers and incredible food – a trip to India won’t be forgotten easily. I felt so inspired after my brief time in this colourful and chaotic country that I knew one day I’d try and bring this setting to life for others, who may not have experienced it themselves.

Destination India, the second novel in the Lonely Hearts Travel Club series, follows Georgia Green as she makes her way from the overwhelming bustle of Delhi to the chilled out beaches of Goa trying to find answers to some of her current life problems. I wanted readers to get a sense of the Indian way of life and how many backpackers feel when they first set foot over there and that it is ok (and totally normal) to go through a whole range of emotions during your time in India. In fact, I’d be surprised to meet someone who didn’t go on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster during their stay in India!

As well as the beautiful locations, I also wanted food to play a large part in the story, the many spices, unpronounceable ingredients and exotic fruits that you taste without really knowing what you’re about to tuck into! I think when you travel to a new country it is important to use all five senses to get a feel for the place and I really hope that I have done a good job of bringing this incredible destination to life through the pages of Destination India.

Review: 'The Lonely Hearts Club - Destination Thailand' by Katy Collins (2016)

What if you had a second chance… to find yourself?

Instead of slipping on her something borrowed and tripping up the aisle to wedded bliss, Georgia spends her big day crying into a warm Sex-on-the-Beach, wondering where it all went wrong.

Forced to make a bucket list of her new life goals by best friend Marie, it’s not long before travel-virgin Georgia’s packing her bags for a long-haul adventure to Thailand.

Yet, Georgia’s big adventure doesn’t seem to be going to plan. From strange sights, smells and falling for every rookie traveller scam in the book Georgia has never felt more alone.

But the good thing about falling apart is that you can put yourself back together any way you please. And new Georgia might just be someone she can finally be proud of…

Today I've got a review of the first part of a new book series to share with all of you and it's a new series I am quite excited about! I first heard about 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club' a few weeks ago, I think, and immediately loved the sound of the series. 'Destination Thailand' is the title of the first novel which is released by Carina today, January 21st. Author Katy Colins is known for her personal blog, 'Not Wed or Dead', and she has based part of her first novel on her own experiences of travelling around the world after having been jilted by her fiancee a month before her wedding. I already admired Katy after reading bits and pieces from her blog and was really curious to check out her book!

Georgia Green was supposed to get married to her long-term boyfriend, but instead life threw her a few curve balls and now she finds herself on a quick trip to Turkey, lying on the beach with her best friend Marie while crying her eyes out. When she also gets fired from her job, Georgia realises she desperately needs a break from everything, preferably as far away as possible. With a bucket list of things she wants to do, she decides to go on a six-week tour through Thailand. Georgia can't wait to leave Manchester behind and discover this strange land and meet some new people; it's an adventure she desperately needs. But as the trip seems to only go from worse to worse, Georgia starts to doubt whether she was really made to travel and perhaps this wasn't such a brilliant idea after all...

What a great and promising start to a new book series! Author Katy Colins used part of her own experiences to write 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club: Destination Thailand' and this resulted in a fabulous chick lit novel I am sure a lot of readers will enjoy just as much as I did. Personally, I am not the kind of girl who has always dreamed of travelling to the other side of the world and if I'm honest the word 'backpacking' already makes me want to hide under my desk, but even if you're not a fan, main character Georgia will easily warm your heart and make you want to continue reading. She really is a great and admirable protagonist; a bit too naive at times, but that makes her real and flawed, just like all of us. I loved joining her on her adventure to Thailand and the storyline held my interest throughout the entire novel, especially since there were quite a few unpredictable things happening which I didn't see coming.

Katy Colins' writing style is great; there's just the right amount of detail, dialogue, setting descriptions, and it's really well-paced. Next to Georgia, there is a fascinating group of secondary characters; a lot of them just make small appearances but still really add their own touch to the story. I particularly liked Georgia's parents and her best friend Marie, and the fact that there were also some characters to really dislike (I'm not going to mention names since I don't want to spoil anything!). The next part of the series is set in India and I already can't wait to read it. 'The Lonely Hearts Travel Club: Destination Thailand' is a feel-good, well-written and enthralling novel which I enjoyed from start to finish; the perfect escape to a bit of sunshine during these cold winter days!
